R&D, Innovating Boundless Possibilities
Vegetable seed R&D is a core pillar driving the sustainable and high-efficiency development of the global horticultural industry. Led by Prof. Richard Visser, an internationally renowned professor and Chief Technical Advisor, our Research Institute focuses its core R&D on breeding new vegetable varieties with high yield, superior quality and strong stress resistance towards biotic stress (plant diseases and insect pests) and abiotic stress (extreme climates, etc.). Through continuous breeding research and breakthroughs, we strive to address core industry challenges such as frequent pests and diseases, climate fluctuations and evolving market demands.
Integrating modern breeding technologies including molecular marker-assisted breeding, high-end seed treatment technology and precision screening technology, the Research Institute greatly shortens the breeding cycle of premium varieties while preserving genetic diversity and seed stability. Meanwhile, we attach great importance to seed health testing, quality control and phytosanitary standards, ensuring the compliant circulation of seeds worldwide and their stable performance in field cultivation.
The Research Institute conducts scientific and technological innovation cooperation with Wageningen University and other universities and R&D institutions in the Netherlands, and carries out joint breeding research with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, Shandong Agricultural University and other institutions in China. We focus on the research of solanaceous vegetable varieties on disease resistance, taste improvement and new variety development.
Our R&D efforts extend beyond the laboratory to the development of practical seed production systems, innovative seedling technologies, and technical capacity building for growers and partners. Through close collaboration with leading European research institutes, universities, and planting communities, we translate advances in seed science into scalable industrial solutions—supporting global food security, sustainable agricultural development, and enhanced productivity and profitability for growers.
